Breakfast Cooking on the Quick
Image : http://www.flickr.com
You get up in the morning and you get ready for your day. And of course, you grab a piece of toast, some cold cereal or a cup of coffee and you rush out the door. You don't think about the fact that not eating breakfast is the reason you lose your fire and energy by ten o'clock in the morning. Instead, you think you're losing your energy because you're not getting enough sleep. So the next morning, you go ahead and sleep in an extra fifteen minutes so you're shaving your face (guys, you know you've done this or at least thought about it) or putting on your makeup (ladies...please) while you're driving down the freeway at eighty miles an hour. And of course, you completely skipped your meager breakfast and you'll do it again tomorrow. It's the beginning of a vicious cycle that has the potential to go on forever, affecting your sleep, your work performance and yes, even your weight, stress levels and mood.
To avoid the vicious cycle that leads to everywhere you never want to be, the first thing you have to do is commit to eating breakfast everyday. If you're worried that you won't be able to commit, there are ways you can help yourself.
My favorite suggestion to offer up to breakfast skippers everywhere is that they need to purchase a crock pot. In fact, if you've ever been married (especially if you live in the Mountain West) you probably received one as a wedding gift, so you can just dig it out of the cupboard. Crock pot cooking is extremely easy to do and breakfast crock pot recipes are in high demand and high supply all over the internet and crock pot cook books.
With a crock pot, you can put your breakfast in when you go to sleep at ten o'clock at night and it will be finished when you get up at five o'clock or six o'clock. If you don't feel comfortable leaving your crock pot cooking overnight, you can always prepare a more simple crock pot breakfast recipe first thing when you wake up and it will prepare itself while you're getting ready.
However, whether you choose to use the crock pot recipes available to you on the internet and in crock pot recipe books or you decide to stick with a couple of eggs with your piece toast and cup of coffee, it's important to remember that you can't hit the snooze button twice every morning if you want to break free of the cycle.
As a perpetual snooze button pusher myself, I've learned to set the alarm 30 minutes earlier, so I can hit the snooze button twice and still get up in time to cook my crock pot breakfast recipes that get me through the morning at my computer.
Since I've learned to love breakfast and my crock pot, I've been exceedingly more productive. You can balk at opinion but you just can't balk at science and logic.

The Dangers of Giving Your Baby Cereal in a Bottle
Image : http://www.flickr.com
Many parents have been adding cereal to their babies bottles with the hopes that baby will sleep better through the night or because they feel the baby is not getting enough to eat.
If you've heard the statements, "Add cereal to your babies bottle and he'll sleep for 5 hours" or "If your baby constantly wants to nurse or seems hungry, add cereal to the bottle," know that those are myths and not facts.
Your baby gets enough nutrition from breast milk or formula for the first 6 months of life. In fact, many medical experts agree that introducing cereal before 4 months of age can cause food allergies. Additionally, adding cereal to your babies bottle is a bad idea. Period.
Experts like Dr. Alan Greene, M.D. believe that the sucking and swallowing actions are not fully coordinated in some children, which can lead to pulmonary problems because they can inhale small amounts of rice cereal in their lungs.
What other dangers are there with adding cereal to a babies bottle? For one thing, your child could very well be on the road to obesity. The extra calories in the cereal itself is enough to teach your child to overeat. When your child is at least 4 months of age, it is more suitable to introduce cereal by feeding your baby with a spoon. Not only does this teach them to learn to eat from a spoon, but it also allows them to rest in between and it helps the baby learn the proper way to eat.
Well, what about your mother, and your grandmother, and your sister, and all those people who swear that adding cereal to a babies bottle will help them sleep and stay satisfied longer? Dr. Alan Greene, M.D. states, "I suspect the reason is that kids do fall asleep a bit more quickly, and some babies may even go a bit longer between feedings. There is no scientific evidence, though, to support the claim that cereal in the bottle will help an infant increase total sleep or decrease crying."'
The American Academy of Pediatrics also advises against feeding a baby cereal from a bottle. The only time feeding a baby cereal in a bottle is when your Pediatrician recommends it to help with reflux.
Obesity. Food Allergies. Pulmonary problems. Bad eating habits. Those are all enough reasons to steer away from giving your baby a bottle of cereal. You may be happy you did.

I Discovered the Herbalife Formula 1 Healthy Breakfast and I Love It
I would be the first to admit that I was never one for eating breakfast. I found the thought of food nauseating in the morning, in fact I still do if its a 6am start. As a kid I recall my mum would make the usual boring few slices of toast, which by the time I got down the stairs never looked that appealing. I couldn't be tempted with the over-advertised breakfast cereals either, therefore I always went to school with an empty stomach and ambled along until lunch time without a morsel inside me.
As a young adult I carried those bad habits with me for some years and often only had my first meal of the day at 1pm or 2pm, by which stage I would be starving. When I became a fitness freak I decided it was time to look after myself properly if I was to have the energy required to do my job well. For a time I did compromise myself to Branflakes cheered up with a banana, and although I knew it was good for me I can't honestly say I enjoyed it. Ah the memories.... woodchip mulch always springs to mind.
Over 3 years ago I was introduced to the Herbalife nutritional products, and I started using the Formula 1 protein shakes for breakfast. I still have them to this day and absolutely love them.
They have six flavours, but my favourite has to be Cappuccino and then Chocolate as a close second.
Even though it looks less than a typical breakfast, it is packed with protein and has all of the vitamins and minerals included which help to sustain energy levels and keep me feeling fuller for a hell of a lot longer than any breakfast cereal. With less than 220 calories per meal they are an extremely effective way of controlling and managing your weight whilst making sure you are getting enough protein and macro/micro nutrients into your body.
I also promote and sell all of the Herbalife prodcts that I use to my clients who have had great results.
I use them primarily for Weight-Loss and Sports Nutrition.
Easy to Prepare - Fast, Fun Meals Using a Vegetable Spiral Slicer
Image : http://www.flickr.com
Add fun and creativity to your meals. Your meals will now get loads of compliments because of the visual appeal and will be the talk at the table! You can do this by using a vegetable spiral slicer. These little kitchen gadgets are so much fun. I can't believe what I was missing out on all these years! I ordered a World Cuisine Paderno vegetable spiral slicer not too long ago and I have to say there has been a boost in vegetable intake from just wanting to use the machine.
I was always intrigued how they made spirally carrot shreds or really adorable garnishes on party foods. I always thought it was made by some ridiculously expensive kitchen gadget that I would never justify wanting to pay for. Well, not too long ago I went into a restaurant that specialized in raw food. Now this may not be new to a lot of you, but they had zucchini pasta...and wait for the kicker...it was AMAZING! From that day I kept thinking about going on the internet to learn how they made it and turns out it is super easy not to mention really cheap.
The vegetable spiral slicer to my surprise was reasonably priced compared to what I thought it was going to cost, if you buy it online. I tried finding it in local stores and it was twice the cost or more. While searching around I discovered there are several available that cost more than five hundred dollars. These more expensive machines I'm supposing are for the more skilled chefs who will utilize this machine and torture it completely till its last run. The quality of the plastic and steel on the slicer are most likely 10 times better then the cheaper models. I ended up finding a new slicer for a really reasonable price, close to 30 bucks and honestly, it works good enough for me.
I'll tell you right here what I found to be the benefits and drawbacks.
Definitely the good qualities are that it is so fun to have a salad not to have the same old boring slices. It's really fun to crank the handle on the spiral slicer to create ribbons of spiral spaghetti sized curly strands to put together with your meals out of just about any harder vegetables or fruits. The blades are extremely easy to change and has a storage place integrated into the machine for the other sized blades. Also, clean up is easy. Seriously, cutting small sized pieces of veggies or fruits to put in your spring rolls or salads are so simple.
Now a couple of cons (and these are subjective) is that it isn't the smallest gadget. The tool isn't massive, but it's not small either which means you need a place for it to call home. Also there is some excess in the centre or core of the fruit or vegetable that doesn't get sliced up. If you're slicing up a carrot, it ends up looking like an over-sized carrot thumb tack and you'll need to chop it up or eat it separately. The manufacturers ought to think about having the cylindrical core remover possibly being albe to be replaced by something which is smooth for vegetables that don't require the core to be removed.
On the whole, I love having the vegetable spiral slicer. I make more raw cuisine using it and am able to throw in more veggies to my meals without actually feeling like I'm eating it because sometimes, I just find them too boring or tasting too harsh when it's roughly chopped. I make all sorts of raw food meals that are fun and tasty thanks to my vegetable spiral slicer. Definitely makes eating and food much more enjoyable. I love it!

Generic Branding
Image : http://www.flickr.com
Imagine walking down the cereal isle of your local supermarket and box after box, row after row, was filled with a white box with the word "Cereal" printed in black ink. Which cereal would you purchase? If they all look the same, you would assume they are each filled with the same cereal.
You would be wrong, in most cases, but there would be no way for you ascertain the difference from the packaging or the "brand." Now add pricing to the equation.
If the price under one of the boxes was $2.99 and a few boxes down the price was $4.99.... would that impact your purchase decisions?
Branding is why some people have no problem paying $150 for an Armani tee-shirt, but will scoff at paying $5.00 for a tee-shirt at Wal-Mart.
Your branding and fee schedule communicates the perception of care one can expect from your office. Your branding and fees should be carefully developed to ensure that your standards of excellence are not compromised.
Drive around and look at your competitive colleagues signage.... how many have "Chiropractor" or "Chiropractic" as the dominate sign on the building? Take pictures of each office and then return to your office and put the pictures side by side.... does it begin to look like a row of generic cereal boxes. Now, place a picture of your office next to your competitive colleagues.... are yo unique?
Branding is simply a name and logo that represents your brand of chiropractic. When you develop a unique name and unique logo, you become differentiated from your competitive colleagues. Now Prospex in your marketplace can discern a difference from your brand of chiropractic and the other options.
Your fee schedule is part of your branding. Are you higher, lower or about the same as your competitors? It makes a difference in how your care is perceived. People who seek the best care understand they can't get it free or cheaply.
People who see a chiropractic adjustment like a row of generic cereals, don't expect to pay much.
Not all spines are created equal. You must decide whom you want to serve and then build your branding to attract as many of those spines as you can with your branded marketing.
